We recently retired and decided to downsize our antique and household treasures collection through an estate sale. After researching a number of auction houses and estate sale companies online, we chose Fred Stegmann at Laguna Beach Estate Sales based on the many glowingly positive testimonials and reviews of his work and an initial phone interview with Fred himself. We found Fred to be very knowledgeable about the pieces in our collection and his in-depth experience with the estate sale process that he shared during our first meeting convinced us that he was the right person to handle our sale.
During the pre-sale preparation period, he and his fantastic crew organized all of our pieces into an incredible display and priced all of the items fairly and knowledgeably. During the actual sale, Fred greeted the customers in a professional yet friendly manner and managed all aspects of the sale extremely conscientiously. He also reached out to some of his established clients over the phone to let them know we had items for sale that they may be interested in purchasing which led to a number of sales that we might not have made to the walk-in customers alone. Fred worked incredibly hard throughout the entire sale and even arranged for a trusted liquidator to stop in after the sale and purchase the items that didn’t sell. In a testament to his integrity and efficiency, Fred followed up the day after our sale finished with a detailed accounting of all items sold and a check for our portion of the proceeds.
We highly recommend Fred to anyone who is considering an estate sale and wants to work with the best team in the business. For anyone reading my review I invite you to read all the other testimonials available on Fred’s home page. Why? Because they all say what I am about to express. And I can attest to the outstanding service that is provided by Fred and his great group of assistants. After interviewing a number of potential Auctioneers and Estate Sale personnel to handle my deceased father’s enormous art collection I invited Fred into the process. Our first meeting culminated into contracting with Fred and he to take on this monumental task of cleaning, separating, displaying, analyzing, researching, photographing and pricing all the thousands of art pieces throughout the house.
With great finesse, care and organization he and his amazing group of assistants spent many hours over two weeks preparing for the eventual week long sale. The outcome was quite successful and I was extremely pleased.
Now, the one thing I want to communicate in my review is the character of Fred. He is definitely OCD—
Organized… Conscientious and Dependable….to name but three of his fine personality traits. Furthermore, he simply does what he says he will do without any hidden agendas or complicated contracts. He was responsive to my concerns and answered all my questions quickly and without hesitation. Yes…he has a high degree of empathy. Oh…did I mention friendly and with a wet and dry degree of humor? Lastly, a few days after the completion of the Estate Sale he personally presented me with a final itemized list of sold items along with a check in the manner in which he had communicated to me at the beginning. He does what he says he will do….period.
So, if you, the reader, is contemplating using an Estate Sale professional service do yourself a favor and employ Laguna Beach Estate Sales. If you are still contemplating and asking yourself WHY???? The answer is this…. Fred comes with the package…and all you need is him.
